Calvin Chou

Whampoa

Calvin worked part-time at Outback when he was studying business administration at university. Having been at the Whampoa branch for nine years as a waiter and trainer, as well as in management roles, he is now the General Manager.

What attracted you to work at Outback?

Outback has an open and friendly working atmosphere, where colleagues from the floor and the kitchen help each other to ensure the restaurant run smoothly. In addition, the management provides a lot of resources to support the staff, which builds a strong sense of belonging among us Outbackers.

What does ‘No Rules, Just Right’ philosophy mean to you personally?

The philosophy not only reminds us to fulfill our customers' dining needs, but also applies to our hospitality work. Whether it's dealing with a request for a meal or a seating arrangement, I want my team to think from the customer's point of view to create an enjoyable dining experience.

How would you like to be remembered by customers?

I want our customers to remember our friendly smiles that make them feel at home when they dine at Outback, and to be impressed with my team's meticulousness and proactive approach to customer satisfaction.

What is your favorite Outback menu dish?

Crab and Avocado Stack, of course. It is an appetizing combination of avocado and crab meat, accompanied by tomato basil and wasabi vinaigrette, bringing a fresh sensation to the taste buds. The dish is also served with tortilla chips, making it a great choice for sharing with friends and family!

What hobbies or special interests do you pursue in your leisure time?

Since I was a kid, I've always loved playing basketball, and in my spare time. I’ve invited my colleagues to play with me and have been surprised how this has strengthened our teamwork and made us work better together.
